Yes. The Balco Transfer Hub is designed for residential plug-in solar systems and is expected to qualify for 0% MwSt, subject to applicable legal requirements.
Yes. The Balco Transfer Hub is designed for residential plug-in balcony solar systems and complies with Balkonkraftwerk (BKW) requirements, including the 800 W feed-in limit and necessary registration like MaStR.
Balco Transfer Hub is a grid-tied controller that connects to a portable power station and enables it to function as a balcony solar system, with up to 800W grid-tied output.Standard portable power stations are not designed or certified for direct grid-tied output, meaning they cannot legally feed power into the grid on their own. Balco Transfer Hub solves this by acting as a compliant grid interface.
When using Balco Transfer Hub, all solar charging is handled by the portable power station, not the hub itself. The hub does not connect directly to solar panels.
In comparison, Balco 260 connects directly to solar panels. With Balco Transfer Hub, the solar panels are connected to the paired portable power station, which then works together with the hub to supply power to the grid.
Compatible BLUETTI models include: AC180, AC200Max, AC200L, Elite 100, Elite 200 V2, Elite 300, Elite 400, Elite 320, and Apex 300 and FridgePower, more models will be supported in future updates. Third-party energy storage models with a rated AC output of 1,000 W or higher are also supported, but functionality may be limited to grid-tied output only.
Power output and energy efficiency remain the same. The main difference is the smart experience.
With third-party portable power stations, only grid feed-in and Self-consumption Mode are supported. You'll manage the battery through the manufacturer's app. Manual setup is required, and BLUETTI Space isn't available.
Yes. At minimum, a compatible portable power station is required to operate the Balco Transfer Hub as a balcony solar system.Additional accessories can expand system functionality:
1. Additional solar panels for faster solar charging;
2. S Meter (German 3-phase smart meter) to measure total household energy usage and optimize power output to reduce energy waste;
3. S1 Smart Plug to monitor the energy consumption of connected appliances and optimize power output;
4. Solar panel brackets for secure installation and improved solar yield;
5. Additional expansion batteries for compatible portable power stations to increase total battery capacity.
The system supports a rated grid-tied output of up to 800W. If connected appliances require more than 800W, additional power will automatically be supplied by the utility grid.
Yes. In addition to solar charging, you can charge your compatible portable power station from the grid through the hub's Charging Socket.
Yes. The Balco Series is designed for homeowner installation and maintenance.
Up to 8 S1 Smart Plugs can be connected to a single Balco Transfer Hub.
The unit includes protection against overcurrent, short circuits, overvoltage, and undervoltage. It also contains a 15A fuse, which must be replaced by a qualified professional if necessary.
Yes. The unit’s indicators display the device status (see Section 3.3). After pairing the system in the BLUETTI app, you can monitor battery level, charging/discharging status, and other system information in real time.
Yes. Balco Transfer Hub can be paired with other Balco Series products, including Balco 260, through BLUETTI Space.
The Balco Transfer Hub achieves up to 94.2% conversion efficiency when feeding power from a portable power station to the grid, with approximately 5.8% energy loss during power conversion.
The overall system efficiency depends on the conversion efficiency of the connected portable power station.
Yes. With BLUETTI Space, you can install and manage multiple Balco Transfer Hubs in your three-phase home system (smart meter required). However, the total output power remains limited to 800W across all three phases.
When multiple devices are connected within a BLUETTI Space system, the first connected unit becomes the “Master” unit, while additional units function as “Slave” units.
The Master unit centrally manages and communicates with all Slave units, allowing users to monitor and control the entire system through a single interface instead of managing multiple devices individually.
Connect a compatible smart meter to enable AI Mode.
In this mode, the system automatically optimizes energy use by predicting solar generation, household demand, and electricity prices. It adjusts charging and discharging in real time to improve efficiency, reduce energy costs, and maintain a reliable power supply—without manual setup.
A compatible smart meter provides real-time insight into your home's electricity use. This helps maximize solar self-consumption and reduce unnecessary grid import and export.
Yes. You can use a BLUETTI S1 smart plug instead, but it can only monitor devices connected to it.
Without a compatible smart meter or S1 smart plug, Self-consumption Mode and AI Mode are unavailable. The system also cannot optimize energy use based on real-time household demand.
No. During a power outage, the hub automatically stops feeding power to the grid to comply with anti-islanding safety requirements.
However, your portable power station can still provide backup power to your devices connected directly to its AC outlets.
Yes. The Balco Transfer Hub is IP54-rated and can be installed outdoors in a sheltered location. Its extended cables let you keep the portable power station indoors or in another dry location while the Balco Transfer Hub stays outdoors.
Due to differences in system architecture and communication framework, these models don't support advanced features, including AI Mode, BLUETTI Space configuration, and battery SoC monitoring.
No. However, a compatible smart meter is required for accurate energy monitoring and coordination. Without one, the Balco system may fail to identify excess solar power, causing the portable power station to charge from the grid instead.
Yes, if your EV supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) or Vehicle-to-Home (V2H). Connect it to the Balco Transfer Hub using the cable labeled Power Station Port to feed up to 800 W of power to the grid.
It depends on the smart meter and your system configuration.
BLUETTI S Meter is designed exclusively for the Balco series, which is also compatible with third-party smart meters, such as Shelly Pro 3EM and everHome EcoTracker IR.
If you're using both BLUETTI and third-party portable power stations, confirm with the smart meter manufacturer whether multiple devices can share the same meter.
For multiple Balco systems, you can manage them together wirelessly via BLUETTI Space with a single BLUETTI S Meter or Shelly Pro 3EM.
The Balco Transfer Hub uses built-in fans and heat sinks for efficient cooling. Its operating noise remains below 50 dB Max. For quieter operation, enable Silent Charging in Settings.
Connect your household loads to smart meters for monitoring. Then switch to Self-consumption Mode in the BLUETTI app and keep Feed-in turned off in Advanced Settings (disabled by default).
Yes. Turn on Time of Use in Custom Mode to schedule charging when electricity prices are low and discharging when prices are high.
Yes. Once connected, the Balco Transfer Hub automatically uses excess solar power to charge your portable power station while maintaining grid feed-in.
