Perfect as expected from this company!

Fire hazard

Unfortunately, cannot recommend this product from Bluetti. Soon after we opened the set under the sun, a few of the panels started to burn up. Since the set was lying on the bimini of our sailing boat, we saw the cloth start to change colour from underneath and realized we were mere seconds away from a catastrophic fire. We quickly dosed the panel with water to cool it down, closed it and moved it to the ground.

Advice

Thanks to Bluetti for developing this 500W solar panel. However, I’d encourage the company to improve compatibility across their products. I wanted to use two of these panels to take full advantage of the 1000W solar input capacity of the BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 Portable Power Station, but it isn’t feasible with the current panel design.

When connected in series, the voltage adds up to 40.92V + 40.92V = 81.84V, which exceeds the Elite 100 V2’s 60V limit. When connected in parallel, the current becomes 12.22A + 12.22A = 24.44A, which is above the unit’s 20A limit.

Please consider creating a 500W panel with either 50V and 10A, or ideally around 55.55V and 9A, so it can be fully compatible with the BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 and allow users to maximize its solar input capacity.
